A Strategic Crossroads

Raton is a gateway community that bridges northern New Mexico and southern Colorado with a strategic location at the crossroads of the two main travel arteries for the southwest, Interstate 25 and US 64/87. We are a midpoint between Albuquerque, New Mexico, Amarillo, Texas, and Denver, Colorado, on a designated “Ports to Plains” transportation route.

Raton is also a stop on the Amtrak Southwest Chief route that runs between Los Angeles and Chicago. Commercial bus service is also available with daily departures.

Raton Municipal Airport/Crews Field (RTN) is a general aviation airport located 10 miles southwest of Raton. The Airport facilities include two asphalt runways, the longest of which was recently expanded to 7,620 feet and can now accommodate larger private jets. There are no tie-down or overnight fees. Vehicles and a rental plane are available with fuel, snack bar and courtesy refreshments during day-time hours. The closest commercial airport is in Pueblo, Colorado, 114 miles to the north.
